Description - Most green tea is grown in parts of Asia. A small shrub that grows up to 30 feet, typically it is harvested when it is 6 or 7 feet tall. Green, black, white and oolong tea all come from the same source: the camellia sinensis plant. What differentiates them is how the leaves are processed.
White tea, the least processed, is produced from tea leaf buds. Green tea leaves are picked early and preserved through steaming or baking to prevent them from fermenting. Oolong and black tea leaves are picked and exposed to the air for a certain period of time to ferment. Oolong is partially fermented and black tea is completely fermented. Because green tea is picked early, it maintains its color and light, delicious flavor.
