People who look at\nscreens for two or more hours in a row every day (who doesn\u2019t?!) have the\ngreatest risk.&nbsp; There\u2019s even a term for\nit \u2013 computer vision syndrome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Symptoms of eyestrain include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tired, sore eyes<\/li><li>Headache<\/li><li>Blurry vision<\/li><li>Sore neck or shoulders<\/li><li>Difficulty concentrating<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that eyestrain does not lead to eye damage,\nbut it is uncomfortable and can affect the quality of your work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Header4\">Eyestrain Prevention<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here too, lifestyle changes can be effective. Take frequent\nbreaks, be aware of blinking, and reduce ambient light around your monitor to\nreduce glare. Barely noticeable streaks during the\nday can blur nighttime vision. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Avoid being blinded by oncoming headlights.\nDon\u2019t look directly at the lights, instead focus on the right-hand side of the\nroad or line marking until the oncoming car has passed. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use anti-reflective coatings on your\nprescription eyeglasses. This helps reduce glare, halos and streaking. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Dim dashboard and instrument lights. When\nthey\u2019re bright, they create a distraction. You may have to strain a little more\nto read the gauges, but this will keep your focus on what\u2019s most important:\nseeing what\u2019s outside the car. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Watch for wildlife. Slow down in areas known for\nwildlife and carefully scan for movement and the reflective eyes of wildlife at\nnight. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check mirrors frequently. Fixed concentration\ncan cause \u201chighway hypnosis\u201d where the driver goes into a trance-like state,\ntypically caused by driving long stretches of open highway.
